The JSON response contains a code (ok valid, ko invalid, mb uncertain) and a message (Accepted, Rejected, Catch-All, No MX, Timeout…). When a free limit is reached, the API answers with HTTP 429 and tells you how long to wait. Full reference: API documentation. Do I need an account or a credit card?
No. The free token only requires a quick human check on this page. No email address, no card.
Why one request every 30 seconds?
The free API is meant for testing and occasional checks. For lists, integrations or high volumes, paid plans remove the wait and go up to 200,000 checks a day per key.
Is anything stored?
No. Each address is checked in real time and discarded right after the answer.
